About the Artist

Brenda Dixon.

This artwork depicts Aboriginal people finding and eating native plants, otherwise known as bush Tucker. Food is energy-dense and would provide the necessary protein, fat, and sugar for survival in the harsh conditions of the bush. Symbols depict a woman sitting and using a digging stick to dig for roots and vegetables that would be placed into a coolamon and carried back to camp to prepare for cooking and eating.
